Publisher Case Study: Increased eCPMs with In Page Push Notifications

In Page Push Notifications

Publishers! Have you implemented our In Page Push Notifications ad format yet? Since launching the ad format in September, more and more publishers are creating In Page Push Notification ad zones. In this article we look at 2 Publisher sites who have implemented the format and how it increased their revenues and how In Page Push Notification eCPMs compared to standard banner eCPMs for their sites.

But first, here’s a quick overview of the In Page Push Notification format and its features:

  • It is a type of display ad that is designed to look like a Push Notification

  • Unlike traditional Push Notifications, In Page Push Notification ads are not displayed within a website’s browser, but directly on your site, just like banner ads.
  • As an end user views your webpage, the ad quickly fades in, to be displayed over the website’s content with an opacity, so that your content can still be seen under the ad.
  • You can have one or two In Page Push Notification ads on a web page and can control the timing that each ad is shown to the end user as well as the position of the ad on the web page .
  • The format is fully responsive across desktop, tablet and mobile and uses the CPM/CPC bidding model.

So let’s dive into those Case Studies!

Points to note

Higher CTR: As you can see it the above Case Studies, In Page Push Notifications have a much higher CTR compared to Banners on both sites. This is because of In-Page Push Notification’s design, being slightly curved at the edges and featuring an image on the left and text on the right, it really stands out to the end user in comparison to banner ads. This brings a much higher CTR and avoids banner blindness. Additionally the way the ad is served as it fades in to be displayed to the end user and that the ad zone can be placed in several different positions

Qualified clicks for advertisers: The user is aware the format is an ad because it features a close ad X. This is great news for you as a publisher, not only are the CTRs high but the click is from an end user who has shown genuine interest in the ad you displayed. This brings an even higher value to advertisers for your In Page Push Notification ad zones, and they are prepared to pay higher bids which brings higher eCPMs for your In Page Push Notification ad zone(s).

Experiment and test! As you can see in the second Case Study, the Publisher used 2 x In Page Push Notification ad zones in the top right/top positions. Globally he generated a 9% increase in his monthly revenues. The first Case Study used only 1 In Page Push Notification ad zone placed at the bottom right/bottom and generated a 9.65% increase in revenues. Obviously the second Case Study is a site that features static images, so both sites have different types of content and end users, therefore, the key here is to experiment. Test with 1 and 2 ad zones on different pages, devices and GEOs. Test out different frequency settings for the timing that the second ad is shown, test out different positions of where the ads will appear. Testing will help you find the sweet spot to generate the best revenues.
